This is a field-based and remote opportunity.

About the Role:

The Regional Director is responsible for building and leading the Cardiovascular Sales Team within an assigned geography.

The Regional Director, in conjunction with the Cardiovascular Marketing team, will have primary responsibility for promotion and sales of the cardiovascular brands to appropriate customers within the assigned region. The Regional Director is responsible for the execution and deployment of the sales strategy for the cardiovascular brands.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Area Business Leaders (ABLs), which includes (but not limited to) recruiting/hiring, mentoring, developing, assessing performance, delegation, and handling, or assisting with personnel issues. The Regional Director is responsible for mentoring and development of Area Business Leaders and talent within their region and the sales organization.

  • Cultivate, build relationships and partner with key executive, economic and clinical decision makers while driving business growth and share of mind to achieve cardiovascular portfolio sales targets, market share and financial objectives for the organization.

  • Build deep understanding of customers and key partners and use this knowledge to design promotional strategies that drive sales volume, market share, and profitability and ensure appropriate positioning of approved new products and services to respond to customer’ needs.

  • Assess performance level of managers and representatives across the nation, ensuring each employee is giving to the overall objectives of the business and work closely with training staff to ensure all direct reports are proficient in terms of clinical and promotional materials and content

  • Partner with marketing to build the annual Integrated Product Strategy (IPS) and Strategic Imperatives for the cardiovascular brands.

  • Mentor direct reports to interact with key customers and accounts at a practice and account level.

  • Support the development of a regional culture in alignment with the commercial organization vision and the Novartis Values & Behaviors.

  • Manage robust performance management plans and continuously strengthen and enhance diverse talent through recruiting, development, and succession plans.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $222,000 and $333,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of commercial pharmaceutical experience, 5+ years dedicated to leading sales teams in the institutional and/or specialty settings.

  • Proven track-record of first-line people leadership including attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent and dedicated teams.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and other cross-functional partners.

  • Strategic and analytical thinking demonstrated by key projects/initiatives.

  • Built and completed business plans in highly sophisticated sales environments.

  • This is a remote position that will support Area Business Leader’s in the assigned region. Candidate must reside within region, or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from region boarder. Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required, with the ability to drive and/or fly within the territory. No relocation assistance available. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in a second-line sales leadership role.

  • Leading product launches and cardiovascular sales teams.

  • Experience in a cross functional role such as training, marketing, or account management, and understands Hospitals, Clinic, Institutional purchases via GPO contracting, chargebacks, etc.
