[FULFILLED] Free 1958 Flying Dutchman

Posted on June 11, 2020 by fdsailor -

FULFILLED Dear FD Sailors,

Bob Schwartzmann started refinishing a FD, but due to illness he won’t be able to complete the boat. Meanwhile, his homeowner’s association is pressuring him to remove the boat.

In good health, Bob could finish the boat within a month. Bob does not know the original make. The bottom has been refinished, but it needs a fresh coat of paint. The co*ckpit area has been refinished. The hardware needs to be reattached. The boat has a trailer, mast, boom, spinnaker pole, sails, some new sails, and all the hardware. The centerboard has been refinished. The rudder was converted to a kick up rudder. It has a new rub rail that needs to be installed. The boat needs new lines. It is a single floor. It has seating along the sides.

The boat is free. I sounds like it would make an excellent day sailor for the right person. We just have a single photo of the hull upside down. The other photo is an oldie but goodie from Bob’s earlier adventures in FD sailing.

Bob has rebuilt a lot of FDs in the past. Bob sailed with Billy Pagels. Bob and Billy sailed out of Huntington, Long Island. The boat is located in Boca Raton, Florida. This boat needs a home. Please contact Bob and Suzzane about details.

Best, Doug.
