Camps will be available for a variety of ages and interests.

Multiple departments at Texas Tech University offer summer camps for students to learn about various subjects. These camps also allow campers the opportunity to explore and discover what a college campus has to offer.

Available camps are listed below.

Museum of Texas Tech University

• Flying Colors – Art Camp
  • Let your little ones express their artistic side this summer. Campers will create unique masterpieces to take home all while learning how to use art tools and techniques.
  • 4- to 6-year-olds; 10 a.m. to noon June 6-8.
  • Cost: $60
• Wit & Wizardry – Wizard Camp
  • Take out your quills and join us to study herbology, magical mixtures, fantastic beasts and more while exploring fascinating mysteries of the wizardry world. Wizards in training will make crafts, play games and conduct experiments during the camp.
  • 7- to 9-year-olds: 10 a.m. to noon June 13-15.
  • 10- to 13-year-olds: 10 a.m. to noon June 20-22.
  • Cost: $60
• Dino-Venture – Dinosaur Camp
  • Campers will go on a prehistoric adventure and learn about different dinosaurs. They will also take a trip into the dinosaur gallery and participate in many different hands-on activities that will give them a new understanding about dinosaurs and their past.
  • 4- to 6-year-olds: 10 a.m. to noon July 11-13.
  • Cost: $60
• Maker's Studio – DIY Camp
  • Camp will offer numerous do-it-yourself projects as campers explore different subject matter and work with various materials to create unique projects.
  • 7- to 9-year-olds: 10 a.m. to noon July 18-20.
  • Cost: $60.
• A Pirate's Life for Me – Pirate Camp
  • 4- to 6-year-olds: 10 a.m. to noon July 25-27.
  • Cost: $60

National Ranching Heritage Center

• Ranch Week (Previously called Summer Youth Classes)
  • Campers will participate in various activities such as western movie-making, ranch skills and ranch art.
  • This camp is open to youngsters who have completed first through fifth grades.
  • Cost: $125.

College of Human Sciences

• Hospitality and Retail Management Fashion Camp
  • This week-long day camp is focused on the Texas Tech centennial and fashion. Many activities are planned around campus to celebrate 100 years of Texas Tech and to make campers a part of the historic celebration.
  • Ages: 7-10: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19-23
  • Cost: $400
• Hospitality and Retail Management Chef Camp
  • Chef Camp, held in weekly durations, allows preteens and teenagers to learn the ropes of the kitchen in this hands-on experience with professional chefs in the Department of Hospitality and Retail Management at Texas Tech. Each day of camp will last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is provided.
  • Ages 10-13: June 5-9, July 10-14, July 24-28

• Hospitality and Retail Management Summer Culinary Series 2023
  • This camp gives the opportunity to learn expert culinary skills from award-winning Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management faculty member, Chef Mark Schneider. This event is open to anyone interested in practicing and expanding their cooking knowledge.
  • 6-9 p.m. July 12: Souperific – The Art of Soup Making
  • 6-9 p.m. July 13: Mombo Italiano – Pasta & Sauces
  • 6-9 p.m. July 14: Breakfast Club – Breakfast & Brunch
  • Cost: $150 per person, per series
• Child Development Research Center STEAM Camp
  • This camp gives participants a chance to learn about the world through an integrated science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) approach. Attendees will experience STEAM topics through creative, age-appropriate, hands-on projects, including a variety of art projects. Registration is open with only 18 spots available.
  • Ages: 5-8, having completed kindergarten: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10-14
  • Cost: $250
• Financial Planning Academy
  • This camp includes a fun-filled week of events designed to help high school students deepen their understanding of personal finance and the profession of financial planning. It allows them to interact with financial experts from across the country while developing skills in leadership, communication, team building, entrepreneurship, marketing and more.
  • Grades 9-12: June 11-16
  • Cost: $150

• Business Career Awareness Program (BCAP)
  • • This is a one-week, in-residence, all-expenses-paid summer camp for rising juniors and rising seniors in the Lubbock ISD to visit Texas Tech and learn about majoring and working in business. The camp will focus on students who are underrepresented in business higher education, including women, low-income, first-generation and other minoritized groups (e.g., African-American, Hispanic-American, Native-American, LGBTQ+, etc.)

  • Be a maker, thinker and doer! This program provides an immersive college art experience for high school students, where they receive one-on-one training from Texas Tech faculty in an atmosphere of university instruction. Program wraps with a student exhibition on the last afternoon.
  • Grades 9-12, June 19-23.

• Band and Orchestra Camp
  • This camp allows students to learn and enhance current skills with any instrument from band, orchestra, or drum major tracks. Extracurricular activities such as dances, movie nights, park games, a talent show, and an evening spent at the Texas Tech Leisure Pool & Lazy River let campers socialize after a day of rehearsals, electives and master classes.
  • Grades 5-12, July 2-8.
  • Cost: $300 (commuter), $670 (residential)
• All-State Choir Camp
  • Five-day camp focused on preparing for both the TMEA Small School and Large School All-State Choir auditions. In addition to sectional and full choir rehearsals, campers are offered to participate in conducting, composition, opera, vocal jazz or musical theater workshops. Our camp includes four exciting evening activities: A Tour of Texas Tech, a beach party at the Texas Tech Leisure Pool & Lazy River, Squad Wars (a relay and social event style competition) and a full-scale Talent Show, showing off camper and counselor talents!
  • Grades 9-12, June 13-17
  • Cost: $200 (commuter), $440 (residential)
• Matador Opera Workshop
  • Designed for the aspiring opera singer seeking to learn how to prepare, perform and perfect the art of role preparation. This two-week role prep intensive provides daily coaching, lessons, rehearsals, solo concert performances, master class performances, and career guidance.
  • Open to all interested singers, May 29-June 9.
  • Cost: $800

  • Cheer camps for incoming junior high and high school age students are held in the Robert H. Ewalt Student Recreation Center.

  • The summer camp includes swimming lessons, rock climbing, archery, camp games and much more.
