As a People Analytics Partner, you’ll be pivotal in shaping our people management strategies through data driven insights and actions. You’ll lead the development and implementation of data analytics that support strategic and operation decisions within the People team. Your expertise will transform raw data into compelling stories that guide our leadership strategies. Your responsibilities will include crafting and refining predictive models and analytics frameworks that anticipates future trends.

What’s exciting about this role, is that you’ll also get to lead and work collaboratively with IT specialists and technology partners, on initiatives aimed at improvements to technology and processes within the People team. This includes the integration of analytics tools and the optimisation of data systems to ensure seamless and efficient access to critical data insights. Your efforts will not only enhance the effectiveness of our people management strategies but also promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

By improving our people analytics capabilities, you will help drive better business outcomes, such as increasing employee engagement, improving operations efficiencies and advancing our strategic goals. Your role is essential in positioning Northern as a leader in data-driven management, setting standards for excellence and innovation in the rail industry.

Key responsibilities:

As the People Analytics Partner, you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in a role that requires tenacity and drive. Here is a taste of your daily duties:

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated reporting systems including dashboards, scorecards, and metrics that monitor and predict people management trends.
  • Collaborate closely with the People Services Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and strategic alignment.
  • Lead and support various analytics projects, presenting findings to senior management to inform critical decision-making.
  • Build and manage a small team focused on delivering high-quality data analysis and reporting.
  • Integrate equality diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategies across all analytics and reporting to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce.

About you:

You are a strategic thinker with a proven track record in data management and analysis within large organisations. Your analytical skills are matched by your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively. You are innovative, collaborative, and ready to lead a team towards achieving excellent results.

We’re also looking for the following:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in data analysis and management within a large, complex organisation.
  • Advanced proficiency with data visualisation and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx).
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in managing direct reports and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to implement strategic data-driven solutions.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant field (Data Science, Business Analytics, etc.).
  • Certifications in project management or related areas are a plus.
  • Experience in both consultancy and in-house roles is advantageous.
